What is Corrected in a Mini Facelift?

What is a Mini Facelift?

The mini facelift is a conservative version of the full facelift that targets sagging skin and tissue along the lower face and neck and uses shorter incisions than a traditional facelift.  Though this procedure is less extensive than the traditional facelift, it is still considered to be an invasive procedure.

How is the Procedure Performed?

The mini facelift is a surgical procedure that does require local or general anesthesia. Dr. Zuliani will make small incisions which will be hidden in and behind the ear and under the chin to access the neck, tie the platysma muscles and remove any access skin.  Underlying tissues with then be lifted, access skin removed, and in some cases, liposuction will be performed to sculpt the area under the chin and along the jawline.  Each mini facelift is customized and tailored to each patient’s needs.  Once all tissues are lifted into the correct position, Dr. Zuliani will suture the incisions and the patient will be moved into the recovery phase of the mini facelift.

How is a Mini Facelift Different from Other Non-Surgical Procedures?

A mini facelift is still a surgical procedure and comes with the traditional risks of any surgery including bleeding, infection, and pain. There are other options that are non-surgical that may be more appropriate depending on your needs and expected outcomes. The mini facelift primarily targets skin sagginess. If this is not your main concern and you are just looking to improve skin texture and fullness, then there are some alternative options. Botox, dermal fillers, microneedling, and laser skin resurfacing are all alternative, non-surgical options targeted at wrinkles, fine lines, and facial fullness. With that said, a mini facelift is the better option for correcting sagging skin.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Mini Facelift?

A good candidate for the mini facelift procedure is someone who is looking to correct the skin on the lower part of their face and neck and is between 35 and 50 years of age.  If you feel like you may be a good candidate for this procedure, Zuliani Facial Aesthetics may be the place for you.

When Will You See Results from a Mini Facelift?

The recovery time before you see results for this procedure is variable on an individual basis, but results are evident immediately. Your stitches will be removed 6-8 days post-surgery and you can expect some swelling and bruising to last approximately 2-3 weeks.  However, most patients are ready to return to their normal routines within 10-14 days after their mini facelift procedure. We recommend protecting your investment by adding in a good skincare routine post-procedure.   The natural aging process will continue, but you can expect your results to last long-term.  You may continue with Botox and fillers as needed to enhance and maintain your youthful glow.
