This fat grafting procedure consists of taking donor fat (adipose tissue) from an area of the body (abdomen or thighs) and then using it to add volume where needed in the face. Using his artistic eye, Dr. Zuliani is able to sculpt very natural-looking results that complement each man or woman’s unique appearance and background.

How is fat grafting performed?
Dr. Zuliani performs the fat grafting procedure under local anesthesia with some light sedation. Your facial fat grafting procedure will be performed by Dr. Zuliani onsite at Zuliani Facial Aesthetics in Bloomfield Hills or at an accredited surgery center nearby.
A small incision will be made near the donor area in order to harvest the needed tissue. Minor liposuction will be performed to extract the adipose tissue from an area of the body where there is some excess fat, such as the abdomen, thighs, or upper arms.
Dr. Zuliani will then process the tissue and prepare it for injection via individual syringes. Based on your consultation, Dr. Zuliani will then inject the precise pre-determined amount of tissue at the target areas of your face to restore volume. There is no need for any incisions in the face as the adipose tissue is injected beneath the skin by syringe.
What can be expected after fat grafting?
Your recovery following the fat transfer and grafting procedure will vary based on your specific procedure. Dr. Zuliani will provide you with specific post-treatment instructions and guidelines to assist with the healing process.
Following your treatment, you will notice an immediate improvement in the contours and fullness of your face. You may even experience a bit of a slimming effect at the donor site!
It is normal for a small reduction in volume to occur over the following months as some of the tissue is naturally absorbed by your body, but the remaining living adipose tissue will gradually repopulate the area. Most of Dr. Zuliani’s fat grafting patients will see their final results at about nine months after their initial procedure.
Fat grafting is a very safe, natural, and effective method for restoring facial volume and enhancing the natural contours. Results are permanent but may, on some occasions, require a final touch-up treatment after one year.
