Your skin relies on a structural protein known as collagen to stay firm and taut. As you get older, your body stops producing as much collagen; eventually, your skin will begin to droop and sag under its own weight. Visually, this translates into wrinkles and folds at various points along your face.
When it’s first injected, the RADIESSE® gel seeps into your skin, replacing the volume that has been lost with time. This immediately causes the skin to look fuller, smoother, and healthier.
Once it’s in place, the RADIESSE® acts like scaffolding to hold up your skin while your body begins a repair cycle. As RADIESSE® particles are slowly absorbed by your body, you’ll begin producing collagen at a faster rate. This collagen is used to repair your natural support structures. By the time the RADIESSE® is fully absorbed, your skin will have regained much of its original texture and form.
RADIESSE® treatments don’t last forever. Eventually, the stimulation will wear off, and your skin will produce collagen at a reduced rate. The full results of RADIESSE® last about a year; after this time, you should schedule a new appointment with your doctor.
