What Is JUVÉDERM®?
JUVÉDERM® consists of hyaluronic acid fillers that are used to restore a youthful facial volume and correct moderate folds and lines. The JUVÉDERM® family of products contains a variety of fillers that are specially designed for different areas on the face. After a consultation, your provider will help you choose JUVÉDERM® products based on the area you want to correct.
JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® is used to add extra volume to the cheeks and any other areas that are lacking depth or firmness as well as provide subtle lift.
- JUVÉDERM VOLLURE® is specially designed to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and parentheses lines by adding subtle volume to the midface area with longer-lasting results.
- JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC injectable gel for marionette lines, laugh lines, smile lines, and nasolabial folds.

How JUVÉDERM® Works
JUVÉDERM® is a gel that adds volume to the area where it is injected. Each product in the JUVÉDERM® family is formulated to work on a specific part of the face. As an example, VOLBELLA® is designed for the lips and needs a slightly different balance of ingredients than VOLUMA®, which is designed to work on the cheeks.
One of the main ingredients of JUVÉDERM® is hyaluronic acid, which is a component that your skin needs to maintain a healthy structure. As you age, your body starts to produce less hyaluronic acid, and your skin starts to sag as a result.
Although JUVÉDERM® does not act as a hyaluronic acid supplement, the presence of this component makes it easy for JUVÉDERM® to integrate with your skin. Most fillers are made with hyaluronic acid as it is a naturally occurring substance in the skin.
JUVÉDERM® products also contain lidocaine, which is a mild numbing agent. The presence of lidocaine helps keep the area from swelling during the treatment process; this greatly increases your comfort and ensures that your results fit a happy and healthy face.
You may notice some temporary redness, swelling, or bruising at the injection site, but those side effects will diminish relatively quickly.
