Facelift and neck lift surgery is most commonly performed for patients in their 40s to 60s who are experiencing concerns such as:
- Deep facial wrinkles or folds in the mid- to-lower face or neck
- Loose or sagging skin (jowls)
- Neck bands
Some patients may also undergo a preventative facelift procedure at a younger age (30s) in order to strengthen the facial structure and maintain a youthful appearance moving forward. While often performed together, the facelift and neck lift can also be performed separately as individual surgeries. How is a facelift and neck lift performed at Zuliani Facial Aesthetics?
The goal of the facelift and neck lift is to reduce excess skin and strengthen the underlying structures of the face and neck. This facial plastic surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia by Dr. Zuliani.
Once you are scheduled for surgery, Dr. Zuliani will provide you with special medications to begin taking one week prior to the day of your operation. There is no haircut needed to perform this surgery as the incisions will be made at the temporal regions of your head, or behind your ears. This allows you to easily hide any post-surgical scarring within your natural hairline. From this incision location, Dr. Zuliani can then reshape and lift the underlying tissue to form a stronger, more youthful structure.
Excess skin is then carefully removed before closing the incisions to achieve a tighter, more youthful appearance. Dr. Zuliani performs all facial plastic surgery procedures at an accredited hospital or surgery center conveniently located near Zuliani Facial Aesthetics in Bloomfield Hills. Once your surgery is complete, Dr. Zuliani will apply the needed dressings to assist with the initial healing process. You should be able to return home shortly after surgery under the care of a loved one.
The facelift and neck lift are often combined as a single surgery for optimal results, but they can also be performed as stand-alone procedures here at Zuliani Facial Aesthetics.
What can be expected after a facelift and neck lift at Zuliani Facial Aesthetics?
Following your facelift and neck lift with Dr. Zuliani, you will need to wear surgical dressings over your face for about 1-2 days. You will notice some bruising, discoloration, and swelling in the initial stages of healing. Most of the swelling will begin to fade within a few days, while discoloration will gradually disappear in about one week’s time. You will be able to resume wearing makeup about 7-8 days after surgery and should be able to return to work soon after as well.
You will need to return to Dr. Zuliani’s Bloomfield Hills practice to have your stitches removed, as well as for follow- up appointments moving forward. Each patient will experience a different recovery period. Dr. Zuliani will outline the specific details and provide you with post-surgical guidelines to assist with the healing process after leaving Zuliani Facial Aesthetics.
It will take some time before you realize the final results of your facelift and neck lift. As swelling and bruising continue to fade, you will notice gradual improvements in the look of your face.
